Maninga Engineering is pleased to be working with Uponor in designing radiant heated/ or cooled building in Gauteng. The building will be using alternative heating and cooling system for an eco-friendlier design. Maninga and Uponor will be using Thermally Activated Building System (TABS). TABS is a radiant heating and cooling system which use the concrete mass of the building structure to store and exchange thermal energy to the neighbouring areas of the building.
Cooling or heating water is circulated through the pipes, which are embedded within the concrete slab of the structure. This noiseless process takes advantage of the exposed surface of the ceiling slab in order to provide cooling or heating to the room below.
