Maninga Engineering generously sponsored the below outreach programs. Their support played a vital role in making these educational initiatives possible, helping to bring enriching experiences to the children at Khulani ECD, and making a positive impact in the community.

Khulani Fitness

Khulani ECD recently hosted another exciting educational event where our children participated in a soccer and fitness workshop led by Coach Thabo Wesi and his team. Coach Thabo, a respected figure in the Diepsloot community, has been coaching at the Diepsloot-based Bophelong Sporting Club for many years. The children engaged in various exercises to warm up and enhance their coordination before moving on to basic soccer skills, which are essential for their gross motor development. The morning was such a hit that both staff and children have requested another workshop later this year!

Khulani Sandpit
The children at Khulani ECD were thrilled to see an exciting new addition to their playground as a new sandpit began to take shape. At first, curious parents—prompted by their eager kids—wondered if a swimming pool was being built, but soon discovered it was something even better: a giant sandpit designed to provide hours of fun and learning all year round. Now that it’s complete, the sandpit is filled, and our children are already enjoying this fantastic new feature in their playground.

Khulani Book Drive

Maninga Engineering recently sponsored a second educational visit to Khulani ECD this year, featuring an exciting performance by Hooked on Books, a theatrical company that brings stories to life. This was the first time Hooked on Books visited the center, and their show was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children at Khulani.

In preparation for the performance, copies of the five featured books were made available to the children in both the classroom and the library, thanks to the generous sponsorship of congregants from St Mungo’s Church in Bryanston. The kids were captivated by the colorful, engaging performance and watched attentively as the characters from the books came to life. The show included audience participation, particularly during the staging of “The Sheep Who Hatched an Egg,” and even the youngest children were able to concentrate for the entire hour. Having the books read to them the week before added depth to the experience, making the performance even more meaningful.

At Khulani ECD, instilling a love for reading is a core value, and we hope that the Hooked on Books show sparks excitement among our children for books and reading.

Khulani Puppet Show

Recently, the children at Khulani ECD enjoyed an exciting educational visit featuring a captivating puppet show. Margaret from Spellbound Puppets delighted everyone with an African folk tale, bringing many colorful creatures and characters to life. It was a wonderful morning filled with joy and imagination for all.
